Cruising on the Waydoo Evo Master Plus
Waydoo’s EVO Master series is their professional-grade eFoil engineered strictly for advanced riders. As a veteran of the sport who has spent years testing the boundaries of flat-water carving, I was incredibly excited to finally get my hands on the flagship Master board.
Below, I will share my raw first-ride impressions of this Carbon-Kevlar high performance board. But to understand how massive of a leap this board is, we need to rewind briefly to Waydoo’s beginnings.
The Evolution of Waydoo: From Affordable to High-Performance

Upgrading from the Pro Plus to the Master Plus
I have personally owned and ridden the EVO Pro Plus (90L) for two years, and it is a phenomenal efoil. The 2,300Wh Powerflight battery consistently yields an amazing two hours of ride time, and I’ve clocked over 20 miles on a single lake charge. Over time, I upgraded my personal Pro Plus with a folding propeller, a carbon fiber surf tail, and switched to the Glide Carbon 1100 front wing to hunt down tighter carves.
But eventually, every advanced rider craves a stiffer, more instantaneous connection to the foil. That is where the EVO Master Plus comes in.
The Weight vs. Agility Paradox
Looking at the chart, it might surprise you to see that the smaller 75L Master Plus is actually heavier on land than the larger 90L Pro Plus. This is due to the heavy-duty reinforcement layups layered around the mast track area and the dense nature of structural resin and Kevlar fabric compared to high-density air-filled EPP foam.
However, it feels significantly lighter and more agile the moment it touches the water. Because the board is 4 inches shorter, the nose "swing weight" is vastly reduced. Combined with the absolute rigidity of the Carbon-Kevlar hull, your foot inputs are transmitted to the foil instantaneously with zero flex.
My First Ride Impressions: Mastering the Master
Right out of the box, you can tell the Master is premium. It ships in a high-end, heavy-duty protective board bag featuring integrated transit wheels and a clever zippered tail slot so you can transport the board with the mast fully bolted on.
The Takeoff
I typically perform a dock start—hopping straight onto the board from my dock as I mash the throttle. Doing this on a 75L board requires immediate adaptation. Because of the reduced volume, the board sinks substantially lower into the water. To get it to plane off, I had to bump the remote up to gear 12 and position my stance aggressively far forward. It undeniably takes longer to pop up onto plane than the buoyant 90L Pro Plus.
The Flight
Once you are up and flying, the payoff is absolute. For my maiden voyage, I paired the Master board with a Glider 1500 carbon front wing, a folding prop, and the surf tail.

Carving around the lake and chasing down wakeboard boat rollers was an entirely new experience. I was able to effortlessly glide onto a boat's wake, completely depower the motor, let the folding prop collapse, and surf the energy of the wave. The ultra-stiff construction makes pumping the board incredibly efficient; you feel completely unified with the wing and the water below you.
The Trade-offs: Durability vs. Performance
The only real downside to the Master is its fragility. While it is beautifully built, a painted Carbon-Kevlar composite skin will never match the pure, bounce-back durability of raw EPP foam. You have to handle this board with care around wooden docks, boat swim platforms, or anything else it might bump into.
Bonus warning: I accidentally banged my bare shin into the deck during a transition, and I can personally attest that hard carbon-Kevlar hurts significantly more than a foam board!
The Verdict: Premium Performance Without the Premium Price Tag
The Waydoo EVO Master Plus stands as a triumphant high-performance setup. It stacks up incredibly well against legacy premium boards like the Lift5 Cruiser (83L) or the Fliteboard Pro (67L), yet it comes in at a fraction of their price point. When it comes to the raw price-to-performance ratio, Waydoo is leading the pack.
While I rode this board using my existing aluminum mast setup, I can only imagine how spectacular the ride becomes when paired with Waydoo’s premium carbon mast and elite propulsion unit. Furthermore, for those looking for the ultimate setup for pure top-end speed and aggressive technical carving, Waydoo's newly released EVO Master Racer (60L) looks like an absolute weapon.
For me as a lake rider who loves to chase wakeboards and steal their waves for a completely depowered ride, the Evo Master is the perfect board.
Which Board is Right For You?
If you are an experienced efoiler looking to unlock true wave carving, wake surfing, and maximum agility, the EVO Master is absolutely the way to go.
If you are still on the learning curve, I highly recommend starting on the stable EVO Lite or EVO Pro Plus platforms first, master your flight mechanics, and then consider upgrading your board to the Master hull down the road.
